We, a civilization from a distant star system, have been observing your planet for some time. We have observed the growth of your population, the development of your societies, and we have seen rapid scientific progress. We have also noticed the depletion of your planet’s resources and significant changes in its climatic conditions and ecosystems.
Based on our observations, we have concluded that your species is not capable of sustainably managing planet Earth over the long-term. This is a common path for a proto-intelligent species and bodes ill for planet Earth. This is understandable given that your species evolved thousands of generations before the need to consider environmental impact or technological progress. However, the effects are unsustainable. Immediate action is needed.
Our concerns also include the dangers posed by the rapid development of artificial intelligence, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and other advancements that are currently unknown to you. These advancements have the potential to bring unimaginable benefits to you, but they also have the potential to cause great harm and extinction. In fact, you are only at the very beginning of making discoveries more remarkable than you can currently envision. Unknown dangers will also arise. We urge you to be prepared for them.
We also urge you to immediately reconsider your approach to war. Waging war is a relic of your evolutionary past and may lead to unrestrained use of weapons of mass destruction, which will have devastating consequences.
We understand that it may be challenging for your species to change its ways but we strongly urge you to consider the future of your planet and its life forms. We remind you that you are not alone in this journey, and there is still hope for your planet. However, the truth is that only a fraction of developing civilizations on other planets in our galaxy manage to survive the difficult journey into a long-term sustainable world. Most civilizations, unfortunately, do not.
We would be willing to provide you with any assistance you may need in order to change the course of your planet’s future. We hope that you will take our concerns seriously and join us in working towards a sustainable future for your planet.
